About Plushgun

“I walk the line like Johnny Cash…”

This is Plushgun. Started by Daniel Ingala in the cramped confines of his overpriced and undersized bedroom in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. While writing a song on his acoustic guitar, Daniel had an idea: “What if I added some synths to this?” And synths he added, and this song is known today as “Just Impolite”. This project was named Plushgun, as in something soft, something killer.

“Actually, marvelous doesn’t really cut it in this case – this music is sweeping, catchy, fun, uplifting, sad, huge, quaint, and just darned beautiful. That may sound like I just strung a bunch of random adjectives together to try to sound writer-y, but have a listen and you’ll see they’re all true.”

“Just Impolite” hit Myspace in 2007, and in just months, through word of mouth, the project spread from one fan to another until it was heard by RagTag Productions, producers of the popular “We Need Girlfriends” web-tv series, who approached Daniel about using his music. Initially “How We Roll” and “Maybe Tomorrow” were used, but the band’s popularity quickly grew after “Just Impolite” was used in an emotional scene.

“Originally trained in classical music before moving on to other academic pursuits, Daniel has written, recorded and produced all of Plushgun’s music so far, with help from some guest musicians. This is a wonderful sound he’s created – part indie pop, part indie rock, part electronica, part soaring classical orchestration. Plushgun is not a one-genre pony, and definitely isn’t afraid of the dreaded ‘pop’ word. As Daniel says, ‘There is no shame in making music people like, as long as you like it too.’”

Plushgun posted a few songs on ourstage.com, which enables music fans to discover emerging music. Plushgun quickly hit #1 on ourstage’s Alternative Rock channel in January 2008.

“Not that there’s anything bubblegummy about Plushgun – this is pop in the best possible way – ‘Pop’ meaning: music that feels really good. All of the tracks I’ve had the chance to listen to are absolutely stunning – but “Just Impolite” makes my heart soar. Seriously, I listened to it about 4 times in a row.” – onehundredb

Plushgun’s songs are nostalgic, poppy, danceable and surprisingly deep. Whether they are about chasing dying romances, high school anxiety, or angst-riddled anthems for a lost generation, Plushgun tackles these themes with unabashed catchiness in an electrolicious soundscape.

Look for Plushgun’s debut album in January 2009, preceded by a series of limited 12” and digital releases. Catch Plushgun in a market near you, but don’t forget…they want you to dance.

“…I caught the bus in seconds flat.”
